Reese Witherspoon lands $21.5 million for an English country-style house in Los Angeles

Actress and producer Reese Witherspoon has sold a Los Angeles home for $21.5 million, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The sale represents a significant increase in the value of the gated Brentwood estate: A trust linked to Ms Witherspoon paid $15.895million for the property in 2020, records show.

The house, a traditional English country-style estate in the lower Mandeville Canyon area, came on the market for $25 million in early March and found a buyer in less than a month, according to listing site Zillow..

Ms Witherspoon renovated the circa 1990s house after buying it. She could not immediately be reached for comment.

The roughly 3-acre property has a private driveway surrounded by heavy landscaping, according to the listing. The house has classic stones and Tudor details. A formal two-story lobby has black-and-white marble and limestone flooring. The home also features a white oak staircase and a family room with a four-seater bar, according to the listing. The second floor includes an “owner’s wing”, where the master suite has two bathrooms and two walk-in closets. French doors open onto the garden, which includes a bar, swimming pool and spa area and a limestone barbecue, the listing says.

Graham J. Larson of Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing, while Danny Brown of Compass represented the buyer.

Ms. Witherspoon, who rose to fame with starring roles in films like ‘Election’, ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ and ‘Legally Blonde’, has more recently developed a reputation as a Hollywood producer through the company she founded, Hello Sunshine, which produced shows like “Big Little Lies”, “Little Fires Everywhere” and “The Morning Show”.
