Luke Combs on who the #1 country music star in the world is right now: “Either me or [Morgan] Wallen, of course”

Luc Combes tell him or Morgan Wallen is the current number one country music star in the world. Combs made the comments on a June 16 episode of the Complete shipment podcast.

“So who’s the number one country music star in the world right now?” Host Bob Menery asked Combs.

“Ooh man, it’s either me or [Morgan] Wallen, of course,” Combs replied.

“Now we’re getting into something,” Menery remarked.

“Is there any competitiveness there,” asked host Kyle Forgeard.

“I mean, I think anybody who says there isn’t is lying, you know,” Combs admitted. “I think any business is competitive,” he added.

“Friendly, or [not]?” Pressed forged combs.

“Man, I love Morgan,” Combs said. “I think he’s a great guy, man. I really do. And we’ve been on tour together, man, you know. I mean, I don’t think there is, at least to my knowledge, whether it’s like… I don’t know any country music [feud] like, ‘oh, I hate this guy, I can’t stand him.’ As if I didn’t know anything, at least it comes to mind right away.

“But I think competition is key,” Foregeard said, to which Combs replied, “man, 100 percent.”

“It pushes people to do their best, man,” he continued.

Combs appeared on Complete shipment podcast before the release of his third studio album, Growing upwhich will be released on June 24. The album features 12 tracks, including her latest No. 1 hit, “Doin’ This”, as well as “Tomorrow Me” and her collaboration with Miranda Lambert, “Outrunnin’ Your Memory”.

In an interview with the New York Times about his new album, Combs describe the project as a “transition phase”, sharing the fact that there are no songs about beer in this corpus, a contrast with his 2020 album, What you see isn’t always what you get, which featured his mega-smash, “Beer Never Broke My Heart.”

“I’m in this transition phase where there are days where I’m like, ‘I could crush 100 beers tonight in a bar and play for five hours,'” Combs told the Time. “The other nights, I don’t feel like getting up from the couch. I want to hang out with my wife and prepare to have this child.

Outside of his musical endeavors, Combs and his wife Nicole are preparing to welcome their first child, a son, this month. Combs will also hit the road on tour this fall.

Meanwhile, Wallen is currently playing on his Dangerous visit.
