The “JAR” in Jar + Bar is an acronym for “Just Another Restaurant,” but owner Ermal Caushi’s plan is for it to be anything but ordinary.

Offering a wide selection of tapas from around the world, JAR is designed to be a local dining spot for families, as well as a popular destination for those looking for a quick bite with a unique handcrafted cocktail or other type of drink.

The renovated patio adorned with flower boxes is sure to appeal to those who are not quite ready for indoor dining or those who like to be outside in mild weather.

JAR had a sweet “friends and family” opening last Monday, and officially welcomed the public Wednesday with a menu that offers something for everyone.

One side of the menu includes salads, and an extra protein from chicken, shrimp, or steak could make it a complete meal. There is also a soup of the day and a seven seas soup with mussels, shrimp and squid in a tomato broth.

Seafood has a strong presence in the app selection, with squid on a stick, ceviche, and Vietnamese shrimp wontons among the offerings.

Tapas are the main feature of the menu and include a multinational range to appeal to carnivores, herbivores, omnivores and pescatarians – with a few options for vegans as well. Back ribs, fish and chips, carne asada, papa’s nachos, spanish chorizo ​​tostada, hummus platter, and birria taco pizza are just a few of the selections.

The red sangria received a resounding boost from many who attended the smooth opening, and cocktails like “Two Birds One Stone” and “Ermule Caushi” (honoring the owner, and highlighting Featured Tito, Strawberry Shrub, Rhubarb, and Ginger Beer) were also immediately popular.

Caushi, who also owns Division West on LaSalle Road in West Hartford Center, described the international tapas menu as “things I guarantee you haven’t seen here, which mom does at home.” [those] countries.”

Besides the extended patio, which can accommodate up to 40 people, the JAR + Bar can accommodate 125 guests, plus 38 at the bar.

The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday, for dinner only, but Caushi said he plans to add lunch service in a few months.
