CP Holiday Train returns with a Canadian country star on board – SwiftCurrentOnline.com

The tracks will be shining bright again this holiday season with the return of the CP Holiday Train.

Salem Woodrow, Canadian Pacific spokesperson, gives details on this year’s holiday program.

“Canadian Pacific is incredibly excited and proud to bring the CP Holiday Train back to more than 160 communities across Canada and the United States for the 24th year to raise funds, food and awareness for local food banks and hunger issues.

Since the program began in 1999, over $21 million and 5 million pounds of food have been raised. Participants are encouraged to bring food or monetary donations, which remain in the local community to help those in need.

Woodrow provides details of the performers on board for the Swift Current shutdown.

“So we’re going to be bringing Tenille Townes and Aysanabee to Swift Current. They’ve been performing with us since the very beginning of the Holiday Train program, when it started in Montreal all the way to Calgary.”

Woodrow adds that Townes is a Canadian country music star from Grande Prairie, Alberta, and Aysanabee is a Toronto-based songwriter who also performed on the CP Holiday Train virtual program last year.

Additionally, Woodrow says that while they were very happy to be able to hold a virtual concert in people’s homes during the pandemic because they wanted to keep everyone safe and follow all local rules and regulations, they are very happy to be back on track this holiday season.

The festive train will arrive in Swift Current on the evening of December 6.
